Area Agencies on Aging (AAA)

Established in 1973 as a result of the Older Americans Act, Pennsylvania’s 52 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) have served the Commonwealth’s 67 counties by providing information about resources and service providers, assessing needs for service, making referrals to case managers, and linking to services. These local agencies have been providing vital services, programs and information to millions of older Pennsylvanians and their caregivers, including legal services, home-delivered meals, health promotion and disease prevention, transportation, public benefits counseling, senior centers and in-home services.

The 52 Area Agencies on Aging provide a coordinated network of care in implementing statewide initiatives, which are designed to help older Pennsylvanians maintain their independence and give them assistance, when needed, in articulating thier concerns and changing needs. They focus on programs and outreach designed to improve the physical, social and emotional well-being of older adults and their caregivers with dignity, diversity, respect and choice.
